TRB has been manufacturing paddle gates using lightweight honeycomb core structure for the London Tube Stations for many years. In the last two years TRB has been commissioned to produce a new, lighter paddle gate in carbon fibre with a PET foam core for the stations, this product is now in testing.

TRB’s sustainable, ‘green’ composite material option for carriage door leaves delivers up to a 35% weight saving, has a 40 year life cycle expectancy, is more robust than its aluminium equivalent, has superior fatigue resistance and low maintenance costs.

Due to the significant weight reduction, the composite door leaf requires a less heavy duty door operating system and provides a number of cost saving benefits to rail operators, such as: reduced energy consumption per journey; less track wear and tear.

RB are global leaders in the design and manufacture of detrainment doors and ramp systems.

We have manufactured the majority of the UK’s Detrainment Systems currently employed on UK Rolling Stock. Including Class 378 106 Detrainment Systems, VLU (Victoria Line Upgrade) 94 Detrainment Systems, S Stock 320 Detrainment Systems, SSL M 380 M Doors for Sub Surface (SSL). In-house test rigs can accommodate all types of testing from load to simulated evacuation tests.

Decorative or functional, TRB is able to advise on materials, finishes and fitting for internal partitions. Partitions can be painted or fitted with FR grade HPL.

Floors can be manufactured using a variety of materials along with the inclusion of heating elements, vinyl matting, and resilient mounts, and are fully sealed to prevent ingress of moisture thus improving life cycle expectations.

TRB designs, builds, paints and assembles the operating mechanism, as well as installs a wide variety of doors, ranging from simple hinge doors, curved, saloon and cab doors to complex, plug-slide doors.

This is evident in our project with Virgin WCML, where we designed, manufactured and fitted the train managers office compartments on the WCML train.

Composite grab rails are lighter than their metallic alternatives and exceptionally hard wearing.

Reducing the weight by using composites can significantly reduce the amount of energy required to drive the train and therefore save on emissions.

TRB is able to advise on materials, finishes and fitting for cabinets, storage modules and shelving. We are able to advise on both composites and metallic options as we have working knowledge of both types of materials over 40 years experience.
